Olivier award-winning Dr Marisa Carnesky has been leading workshops and teaching performance for over twenty years, developing methods and exercises to help both emerging and established artists evolve ideas, develop their practices and make new work.

Marisa’s students have included artists like Talluah Haddon, Oozing Gloop, Lilit Lesser, Tom Cassani and Claud Palazzo. She regularly leads independent workshops in London, Brighton and internationally (City of Women Festival, Slovenia). She created and validated a new BA in Contemporary and Popular Performance at Rose Bruford College where she is currently a Programme Director and Senior Lecturer.

Marisa has collaborated as a performer/outside eye/dramaturg/collaborative director on a wide variety of projects, collaborating with Duckie, Feral Theatre, Livia Kojo Alour, Empress Stah, Mladinsko Theatre (Slovenia) and The Insect Circus.

Whether you want to develop your practice in a supportive workshop environment, or one-on-one directorial or mentoring support, Marisa brings a wealth of understanding, patience, knowledge, practices and processes to help you realise your creative potential. Her specialist areas of practice as research in performance include contemporary circus narratives and archival materials, immigrant stories & cultural identity, feminist use of spectacle, myths and fairy-tales, menstruation and body cycle narratives, contemporary ritual and eco-feminism.
